Especially since it was so unique to create what Guettel calls something akin to “a sonic proscenium.” ![]() When the opportunity came up to write the incidental music for the new Broadway play of To Kill a Mockingbirdthat Sher was directing, Guettel jumped at the opportunity. "I built a studio 100 yards from where I live so no one can hear me and my bad music that I am making.”īartlett “Bart” Sher is Guettel’s frequent collaborator who directed The Light in the Piazza and is directing Guettel's upcoming new musical Millions. “I'm very shy and private about my process,” he shares.
